Internal Committees
A committee at AMUSE is a group that meets regularly with a specific goal/area of interest in mind. There is a committee for basically every facet of AMUSE! Any AMUSE member can sit on a committee, whether they are on the Board of Representatives or not. You are welcome to attend a few different committees at first, to see which one(s) you like the most! As well, you can Chair a committee, which means being in charge of setting up the time/date of meetings and creating agendas to keep that committee well organized. It’s a great professional experience, as well! You are welcome to sit on as many committees as you like.
If you are interested in joining the Board of Representatives or in an Executive position, contact us at communications@amusepsac.org to inquire about open positions.
Mobilization and Solidarity Committee
A union is only as strong as its least informed member and the Mobilization Committee is committed to reaching out to individual members to empower them in the workplace. The Committee also works on campaigns, events, and other projects that are informative and build community within the union, especially during Collective Agreement bargaining. This committee also builds stronger ties of solidarity with groups and organizations outside of the Union. To get involved with the Mobilization and Solidarity Committee, please contact the Communications and Outreach Officer at communications@amusepsac.org.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee meets about once a month to go over the budget and review funding requests! Finance Committee is responsible for ensuring that AMUSE’s finances are addressed and they are responsible for voting on changes to the budget throughout the year. It meets to review the budget and handle discretionary funding. Please contact the Treasurer at treasurer@amusepsac.org for more information.
By-Law & Policy Committee
The By-Law & Policy Committee works on reviewing, developing and proposing amendments to AMUSE internal policies. The committee stays active on an ad-hoc basis. Please contact the Internal Affairs Officer at internal@amusepsac.org for more information.
Labour Relations
Committee
The Labour Relations Committee aids the Labour Relations Officer in considering how to go forward with various grievance processes that are being worked on with McGill and/or the PSAC as well as discussing general labour relations matters and strategizing to improve conditions for AMUSE members. If you are interested in participating in this committee please contact Labour Relations Officer at labour@amusepsac.org.
Translation and Bilingualization Committee (EN/FR)
Fluently bilingual in both French and English? Got a passion for translation work and want to gain experience to add to your CV? Join this committee to help accessiblize info in English and French for union communications and with the broader community of Montreal and Quebec! Please contact the Internal Affairs Officer at internal@amusepsac.org for more information.
Workplace Research
This committee has the opportunity to research matters that impact AMUSE members when it comes to McGill as an employer. The committee has leeway to bring McGill concerns to meetings, so they can decide and plan what info is needed to inform actions from AMUSE as a labour union, to better support members and bring important issues to light. If you are interested in participating in this committee please contact the President at president@amusepsac.org.
